Quote from VATEUD1:

"Gentlemen,

Following the announcement of the creation of the VATEUD OPEN SKY initiative some two weeks ago, please note the following changes effective immediately, please pass on to your relevant vACC websites/forums.

NEW OPEN AREAS

FYROM (Macedonia)
SLOVENIA

LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE 1ST RELEASE

1.   Dont rush to open a position without first having taken the trouble to prepare one self, find and read the AIP, understand the geographical implications, dont open airports that officially have been closed or do not exist in real life.
2.   Sector files can be found on www.vateud.org
3.   Make yourselves known to the adjacent vACCs and ask them if they have any LOAs in use that you need to use or be aware of, especially relevant in the case of FYROM .
4.   Slovenia has a website http://slovenia.avsim.net/vacc/ and is in fact an official vACC within VATEUD, but its Director Goran Brumen is essentially running a one man show and can need all and any help possibly at his disposal, so dont hesitate to light up the vACC and offer help and support, He will be grateful and appreciative of the gestures.
5.   Members who after having manned under Open Sky an area previously not being an official vACC and who are interested in setting up a permanent vACC are welcome to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. WHAT IS OPEN SKY

Open Sky is an initiative within VATEUD allowing the members of which ever vACC to open up any position in a designated Open Sky Area in order to bring online presence to current dormant or non-existent areas of VATEUD, please note that until further notice, these areas may be manned at will by anyone regardless of which vACC they belong to within the European Division. In other words, members can control as per their GRP2 rating requirement at any time they so wish without the need to sign up as Visiting Controllers. This policy will be reviewed in June of 2010.

CURRENT LIST OF OPEN SKY AREAS (March 15 2010)

ALBANIA
FYROM
MALTA
SLOVAKIA **
SLOVENIA

** Slovakia as we have become aware of is in the process of setting up a vACC and any manning should be done in conjunction with the local team and be seen more as a support and assistance team effort offered to the new team there whilst building the local set up.

Happy controlling and indeed flying into new and unknown areas of VATEUD.

Kind regards
Peter Nielsen
